When a patient searches “dermatologist near me” or “best dentist in Kothrud”, Google shows three practices on a map before any website. Those three profiles receive a large share of the calls. Here is the checklist we use to get clinics into that Map Pack and keep them there.
Set-up and accuracy
- Verify ownership of every clinic location, and remove duplicate profiles.
- Use your real business name — adding keywords to the name can get the profile suspended.
- Pick the most precise primary category (for example “Dentist” or “Orthopedic surgeon”), then add relevant secondary categories.
- Keep hours accurate, including holiday hours and emergency availability.
- Match your address and phone exactly with your website and directories.
Content that converts
- List every service with a short description.
- Write a helpful business description covering specialties, doctors and facilities.
- Add a booking or appointment link and a WhatsApp-enabled number.
- Upload real photos — exterior, reception, consultation rooms, equipment and team — and add new ones monthly.
- Post weekly: health tips, camp announcements, new services and updates.
- Seed the Q&A section with common questions about parking, timings, insurance and fees.
Reviews and reputation
- Ask every patient for an honest review with a simple QR code or WhatsApp link — never offer incentives.
- Respond to every review professionally, without confirming any medical details.
Supporting signals
- Create a location page on your website for each branch and link it from the profile.
- Track results — calls, direction requests, website clicks and bookings — every month.
Work through this list once, then maintain it weekly. Consistency is what separates the clinics that stay in the Map Pack from those that briefly appear and disappear.
Frequently asked questions
How many reviews does a clinic need to rank?
There is no fixed number. What matters is a steady flow of recent, genuine reviews relative to your local competitors.
Can one doctor have a separate Google profile?
Individual practitioners can have their own profile in many cases, following Google's guidelines for practitioners working within a practice.
